Cache Notifier ("the App") is developed by Capslock AG ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding your data.
The App collects the following data while it is active:
We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information beyond what is listed above.
Your GPS location is transmitted directly from your device to the Project-GC API (project-gc.com) to update your position in their system. This is the sole purpose of location collection and is the core functionality of the App.
We transmit the following data to Project-GC with each location update:
We do not store, log, or otherwise process your location data on our own servers. All data goes directly from your device to Project-GC.
Cache Notifier requires background location access because its core functionality depends on continuously tracking your position while you are geocaching – even when the app is not in the foreground. Without background location access, the App cannot notify you about new caches near your current position.
A persistent foreground notification is displayed at all times while location tracking is active, so you are always informed that the App is running. You can stop tracking at any time by tapping "Stop Updates" in the App.
The App communicates exclusively with the Project-GC API. Your use of Project-GC's services is subject to their own Privacy Policy, which can be found at: https://project-gc.com/Home/Privacy
We have no control over and assume no responsibility for Project-GC's privacy practices.
All data stored by the App (credentials, notifier IDs, last known location) is stored exclusively on your device. We do not retain any data on external servers. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
Your Project-GC credentials are stored in Android's SharedPreferences on your device. We recommend keeping your device secured with a PIN, password, or biometric lock. All communication with the Project-GC API uses HTTPS.
Cache Notifier is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Since we do not store your personal data on our servers, there is no data for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end. To remove your data from Project-GC, please refer to their Privacy Policy and account settings.
To remove all locally stored App data, simply uninstall the App from your device.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
